Food Incident

Advise the nearest trained first aid officer and/or contact a local medical provider for immediate support to affected person/s. Seek further medical attention as indicated, including emergency response via 000 (triple zero).

Report the incident(s) to the RNA Executive Chef (Food Safety Team Leader) and WHS Team for investigation.

Obtain the following information if possible:

  • time and date that the report or complaint was made
  • name and contact details of the complainant
  • the number of people that are allegedly ill
  • date and time the food was eaten at your food business
  • what food/s were eaten
  • what food/s the person suspects caused the illness

Details are to be recorded or transferred to the RNA Food Complaint Report and forwarded to the RNA Executive Chef and Health and Safety Team.

  • The relevant Food Safety Supervisor is to determine if any of the food suspected to have caused the illness remains on premise. If so, all suspected food remaining should be hygienically contained, labelled as ‘suspected unsafe food’ and placed in refrigeration, separate from other food
  • Report alleged incident of food poisoning or suspected intentional contamination of food to the appropriate authority:
