Natural Disaster

Remain calm and remove others from immediate danger is safe to do so.

Flood

1. If building is in danger of becoming flooded, evacuate all occupants to higher ground or area unaffected by flooding.

2. Dial Security and report the situation.

3. Switch off any services that may be affected by flood waters (power, gas, etc.).

4. Move chemicals, documents, equipment and valuables off floor if practical and time permits.

Severe Storm

1. Move all occupants away from windows.

2. Close curtains, drapes & blinds.

3. Shelter in safe area of building, in RICC shelter in halls or concourse.

4. Stay clear of areas with glass walls or atriums.

5. Stay inside unless directed to evacuate.

6. Dial Security to report STORM DAMAGE including location and nature of injuries/damage.

Earthquake

During Earthquake (if inside)

1. Stay inside.

2. Do not use lifts or stairs.

3. Take shelter in doorways, under sturdy desks, or down beside an internal wall.

4. Stay clear of areas with glass atriums or facades.

5. Keep away from windows or objects that could fall on you.

If outside

1. Stay outside.

2. Take shelter clear of buildings, trees, powerlines and other potential hazards.

When Earthquake Stops

1. Check for signs of fire, hazardous materials spill or major structural damage.

2. Account for all staff, visitors, patrons and contractors if possible.

3. Do not evacuate unless building is immediately threatened or instructed to do so.DO NOT USE LIFTS – use stairs.

4. Await further instructions from Emergency Services.

5. Expect aftershocks.
